Golden Words
Where Were You?
Renee Brest says this about the Kennedy Assassination:
I was living in Dayton, Ohio. Our first born child was three months old, and I was at the unemployment office when the first news flash came across the ofice TV. one and one half hours after arriving home, I stood in front of our black and white TV to see and hear the trembling, tear stained face and voice of TV newsman Walter Cronkite announce and confirm the assassination of our youngest President of the USA. I wept and for the first time in my life at the age of 18, I feared for our country and our safety. Twenty five years later in 1988, our son dated a young lady in Owasso, whose father served in the U.S. Air Force. He was selected to be one of the chosen few to be "Honor Gaurd" for John F. Kenney's Funeral Procession.
Gertrude Swayne says this about the Kennedy Assassination:
I was standing in front of the television with the ironing board up and a basket of dampened clothing. When the station broken in and said, "John F. Kenney has been shot in his motocade in Dallas." I called my sister-in-law Pauline and told her, but she didn't believe me, but soon she found out for herself that it was true. I had lots of goosebumps up and own my spine on that day. My heart went out to the wife and young children.
