Owasso Community Center

The center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

A Nutrition Program is offered Monday through Thursday to all senior citizens at 11:00 am.  Seniors, 60 and over, are asked to contribute to the cost of the meal to the extent of their financial ability.  The usual donation is $2.00.  Those under 60 will be charged $4.60 per meal.  Reservations for a meal need to be made at least two days in advance.  A Pot Luck Dinner is held every Friday.  All participants bring a dish to share or contribute $2.00 toward the main dish.  A Birthday Celebration scheduled every three months, March, June, September, December honors seniors celebrating a birthday.  We have five pool tables, pool cues and balls.  Our seniors organize 4 major tri-state 8-Ball  pool tournaments a year, plus 1 in-house tournament a month.  Seniors also play various card games, including, Skip-Bo and Canasta and sometimes other games such as Phase 10, Rumikub, and Chicken Foot.  The center provides transportation for seniors coming to the center and then home after lunch.  Once per month the seniors go out to lunch in the surrounding Tulsa/Owasso area.  Our ladies Quilting Group meets every Monday and Wednesday.  The ladies hand-quilt quilt tops for money they donate to the two senior organizations, Owasso Golden Agers and the Owasso Senior Citizen Foundation.  The Owasso Golden Agers is the service arm of the senior programs.  They provide support, both financially and through volunteers for the programs offered at the center.  The Owasso Senior Citizens Foundation is a tax exempt (501C-3) organization whose primary purpose is to receive and manage a corpus of funds to assure that a viable Owasso senior program is not totally dependent on governmental funding.  A recent purchase for the Foundation was computers for seniors to have lessons or to come to the center and utilize the computers for anything from e-mail to making greeting cards. A local hospice provides an exercise instructor that meets each Thu at 9:00 for seniors.  At least twice per month, Health and Educational seminars are scheduled for the seniors.  There are also Fund Raisers scheduled four times per year that will include a dinner and Bingo.   The fully equipped Ceramic Room is available upon request of an appointment.  The molds, slip, kilns, glazes and paints and other materials needed are available.  Depending upon requests and need, we will have ceramic classes.
